2014 ETSY SWAP LINK UP

Tuesday, October 28, 2014

I participated in an Etsy Swap hosted by Amy and Meg this past month and it was such a fun experience. If you're not familiar with how it works, think secret santa for Etsy lovers. Intrigued right? You're secretly assigned one person and are responsible for sending that person an Etsy gift after learning about them via social media. And of course, someone is assigned your name, as well. It is just one grand mix of etsy gifts delivered throughout the country. This was my first time participating in the swap and it was such a fun process to pick out goodies and of course, find that mysterious box land in your mailbox. :)

A link-up opened up last week for all participants to share their gifts (I know, I know I'm late) so others can look at gifts and discover new etsy shops!

Amy, a blogger-friend and swap founder, was the lovely lady who received my name. I know, lucky me. :) She sent me a handful of cute goods including homemade lip balm, a journal, paper goods -- and because she just knows me -- a mason jar of her favorite local coffee. YES. I've already put some of the items in place and I'm just waiting to break out the coffee this weekend. :) Take a peek.

If you want to learn more about the shops of the gifts above, what other participants received, or how you can get involved in the swap next year, check this link-up here. Cheers!

HAPPY NOVEMBER, EVERYBODY.
It is the first day of the month that is filled with thanks, loved ones, and food that makes you fall into deep sleeps. Just wanted to welcome in the new month and tie up loose ends of October with you...

In October, we (attempted) to talk about "belovedness" for thirty one days. Although there are not 31 posts, you can find them all here.

GOALS:
- Participate in #shereadstruth
- Begin new blog projects. (I'm really excited for this one. Hint: guest posts + sponsorships)
- Take better care of my body.
- Cut out carbs and look for changes.
- Practice grace daily.
- Sleep before 1 a.m.
- Don't skip class.
- Say "thank you" frequently. (:

HOUSEKEEPING:
Please note the right side bar to see the addition of new friends and sponsors of Coffee & Honeycomb. Be sure to check out their blogs and give them some love. (:

xoxo.

Illustrator 101: Chevron

I am a design [noob]. However, I'd like to change that! (: Today was step one.

Like the chevron? I learned how through this quick and simple tutorial. If you click on the photo, it will take you directly to the link where I learned how. You should definitely try it, I promise it's dummy-proof.

And the gradient? That was all me. ;) Once I covered my artboard with the chevron pattern, I changed the opacity of lines in pairs, starting from 50% all the way to 100%. (So, all lines are the same color, the top two lines are just of it as 50% opacity, and the bottom lines are the true colors, 100%).

Depending on your pattern and design, this will change, but it's the same idea. Then I pasted some text on it to tell a narrative. This is my simple and lazy way to begin documenting my beginner design story... And I'd love to hear yours, too!

Are you an Adobe user? Whether it be a beginner or pro, I'd love to check our your work, too. Share below! :)

Cheers!

Happy News

Sunday, November 4, 2012

My two favorite bloggers, Elise from elisejoy and Elsie from a beautiful mess, have partnered up together to create an e-course on blogging.

I was really excited to hear the news. It's like hearing for the first time that messy buns are in style. Or that you can buy nutella and crackers together. Or that it's not just you that doesn't shave during the fall. It's every girl.

Do you know what feeling I'm talking about. Pure freaking happiness.

But really, if I want to be serious about this whole blogging thing, I should take a quick tip from the pros and my source of inspiration, right? Maybe I'll check it out.

Here's a link to it if you're interested in learning more about it. http://eliseblaha.typepad.com/golden/2012/11/blog-design-love-e-course.html
