COFFEE DATE / 01

Monday, November 4, 2013

I recently started following Allison Lehman @ Be Up & Doing and she has this new series titled, "let's get coffee." The intent is to get to know her readers better, so she poses a few random, light-hearted questions that readers can respond to in the comment section.

Essentially, it's a virtual coffee date.

I read that and thought, "why didn't I think of that? I love it — it's perfect for my blog." I do love it and it is perfect. Coffee is kind of a big deal around here at Coffee & Honeycomb. It's more than a brewed beverage, it's near and dear to my heart — which I discuss here earlier in this post

Coffee dates have been good to me, and so I wanted to bring it here with you. I promise I make a great coffee date. Would you join me?

How it works: Answer any (or all) of the questions in the comment section below.

THIS WEEK'S QUESTIONS:
1. Since this is a coffee date and all, what's your typical drink order?
2. Are there any TV shows you're hooked on right now?
3. What are you most looking forward to this fall season?
4. Do you have a blog? Post the link, I'd love to follow you.

MY ANSWERS:
1. My drink order changes frequently, but right now I'm trying to stay away from carbs so I would order a grande sugar-free breve latte. (It's not that gross, I promise!)
2. Right now I'm watching: Grey's Anatomy, Rules of Engagement, Modern Family, Parks and Recreation, Vampire Diaries, and The Office re-runs. (I know, I watch a lot of television. Do you watch any of these? If so, let's talk.)
3. Not gonna lie, I'm looking forward to thanksgiving break. I'm gonna sleep in everyday. But I also enjoy quality time with friends and family, fall tradition, and Starbucks red cups.
4. If you're not following me, you can do so here @ bloglovin

That was fun. :) Looking forward to hearing your responses. I can't wait!

XO.

I WANT / 01

A VEST.

That is at the top of my wish list right now. My wardrobe has never held one before nor did I ever desire to add it to the shopping list prior to this season, but after studying abroad in Italy last spring and spotting faux fur vests on the backs of every girl on the street, it sucked me in.

Anyone have one? Anyone know of a good place where I can find one?!

Here are some styles I'm loving:

THROWBACK THURSDAY : SUMMER FEVER

Thursday, September 26, 2013

In lieu of fall, I thought we'd dedicate today's #throwbackthursday to reminiscence on the previous season: summer. (:

Oh summer, what easy and wonderful days you were... Abundant with wedding bells, rooftop lunches, morning train rides, work cocktail hours, lazy Saturdays, foodie adventures, CM munchkins, and tan lines...

IN PHOTOS

Although it has only been a few months, my life looks drastically different now than it did before. My responsibilities are different, my work feels different, and my prayers sound different. Not necessarily good or bad, just different. But you know what they say...
"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens." — Ecclesiastes 3:1
So with that, fall, I welcome you. :) Bring whatever this season may — and may it be more grand, stretching, beautiful, fruitful than the last. May I be more loving, patient, diligent, and faithful than the last. And may God be bigger, realer, clearer, and sweeter than the last. Bring it on, fall.

GOALS: NOVEMBER

Sunday, November 4, 2012

Happy November, everyone!

I know I said this last month but I just have to say it again: time FLEW BY. I feel like I just recently did one of these posts for October. Hope everyone is staying healthy and bundled up-- everyone around me is getting sick. My roommate included. ;( Not me quite yet, I feel like my immune system has toughened up since I was a kid. (Knock on wood.) I'm drinking my warm fluids and wrapping up in scarves. And my loving madre recently sent me my sweaters and jackets which was perfect for this past week's freezing cold weather. It really feels like winter has already hit the midwest.

October was a crazy one with midterms, client meetings, work, and church.

For now, I just want to quickly welcome the month of November and celebrate the season of fall and Thanksgiving. Cheers!

GOALS:

  • Be thankful

  • Send out cards

  • Keep blogging

  • Organize computer space

  • Do laundry

  • Go to class

  • Consistent quiet times

  • Love God

What are your goals for this month and what's your favorite part about fall? XO.

OOTD: Chunky Knights + Burgundy Shorts

Monday, October 15, 2012

Over the summer, I fell in love with a pair of high-waisted burgundy shorts from F21 and purchased them right on the spot. Then, you know what happens next— summer ended before I even got a chance to wear these beautiful babies. However, I turned my thinking cap on and realized that this love affair didn't have to end before it started. The solution? Stockings. I pulled on a pair of stockings under the shorts so my legs wouldn't be completely bare against the harsh Chicago wind.

The outfit below is how I styled the shorts. (Stockings are not shown).

Ps. To all my Upper East Side lovers, hope you enjoy and can't wait for tonight's episode.

OOTD: Mustard Yellow + Polka Dots

Sunday, October 7, 2012

My favorite part about fall?

(Besides toasty cups of coffee, good television show line ups, the lingering scent after a football game, not having to shave your legs, scarves...) The layering of clothes.

Here's one approach I took.
Mustard yellow + polka dots— two prevalent trends this season, and it makes our lives easy because they look effortlessly flawless paired together.

Favorite Beauty Products

Sunday, October 7, 2012

As the leaves turn, so should a lady's skin regimen. It's time for us trade our bronzers for blush and lotions for heavier moisturizers.

As a girl who's grown up in the midwest, I've always had to adjust according to each season, and while it was fun to exchange neon polishes for navy blues and flip flops to boots, skin products weren't always as obvious.

So, I thought I'd make some peoples' lives easier, and share my own favorite fall beauty products. Enjoy!

LUSH VANISHING CREAM (here)This is my all time favorite moisturizer that is gentle enough to use both day and night. It does not leave your skin with greasy residue, just a nice supple touch! I initially bought it to lighten previous acne scars, but it also helps even out skin tone, tighten pores, and leave your skin freshly moisturized. (: Even better, it is 100% made with organic ingredients. During the colder season since the air is dry, it's harder for skin to maintain its moisture. *Since using this product, I, personally, have witnessed a DRAMATIC difference in my skin tone, texture, and acne. I think this is my holy grail product and the product I will carry til my grave.

LUSH GREASE LIGHTENING (here)
Again, another Lush product. This product is a spot treatment for specific blemishes. I like to apply this on over night when I feel a pimple coming on. I don't use this daily, but I tend to reach for this product when I'm not getting enough sleep, when I'm stressed, or when it's just that time of the month. (; This anti-bacterial product also is only made with 100% organic ingredients which helps shrink your zit without leaving it dry.

DIOR DIORSHOW STYLER ULTRA-FINE PRECISION BROW PENCIL (here)As saying goes, eyebrows make a huge difference on a woman's face, and for a long time I never believed it or participated. I started working (shaping, tweezing, coloring in) my eyebrows since the beginning of summer and now I can confidently say that the eyebrow do-ers are not in a cult, they're just trying to preach the truth. WOMEN, DO YOUR EYEBROWS. And what's great and easy about this product, minus the unfortunate price tag, is that it is a universal color flattering to each woman regardless of their skin tone or hair color, no need for experimenting or second guessing. Also, it is a sharp pencil which makes it easy to use, even for beginners! This brow pencil is precise in that it's like you draw in your own little pieces of hair, and depending on your face shape, you can control how you'd like your eyebrows to look. Like I said before, the price tag is intimidating, starting at $30 for only a small amount of product, which is the one "con" I'd add to the list. But, if anyone else has a favorite brow pencil, please share, my wallet will thank you.
